I am a Game Designer living and working in Berlin, currently working at Yager – working on the PC Game “Dreadnought“, a free to play PvP Space Shooter. My previous job in the field, was with Wooga, working on genre defining free to play Hidden Object Games.
Making games is my passion. The craft of designing experiences, and unraveling what makes games, and players tick, is what drives me every day. There is a lot to read, explore and learn. As game designers we also play games differently, we need to reflect on the experience to distill and integrate our observertations into our internal model of “How Games Work”. We do that by looking at the mechanics, the numbers, comparing it to other games that we have played. We can then try to understand why things work and why some things don’t work. This is a toolset that we can utilize when we are designing a game. To help me, and maybe even you, to improve this toolset I want to share the learnings and observations I have in this Blog.
